PLOTBUNNY GAMES is a publisher of tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) and story games from Berlin, Germany.

We're open to fantasy, science fiction, historical, and contemporary settings, provide games for one-shots and campaigns, and offer TTRPGs with and without a GM. (You know a great game we should publish or translate? Please let us know!)

We like low-barrier games that are well-explained and attractively designed. Sometimes we explore interesting niches. Great games by marginalized creators are especially dear to our heart.

Inclusion and Representation

The inclusion and participation of underrepresented people of all kinds is a given for us – both within the world of our games and in the publishing work at PLOTBUNNY GAMES.

Queer content and characters are completely normal to us, disabled people have room in our game settings, and we do our best, to show the world from more than just a white perspective.

In our products, we pay attention to contrasts, colors, and font sizes. We use image descriptions on social media, on our Discord, and in our PDFs. We set up our PDFs for comfortable use with and without screenreaders. We consider in all our games how to play them online, and offer support for that to the best of our ability (for example, digital character keepers, easy-to-navigate PDFs, and our Discord as a space for online games).

We happily work with people of all genders and sexualities. We adapt to the needs of chronically ill, neurodivergent, and disabled people. We are constantly working on becoming even more diverse and inclusive in the future. We are open to criticism, reflect on our privileges, and always keep learning.

If you have any suggestions for how we can become even better in terms of inclusion and representation, please let us know!

Finances and Fairness

We use crowdfunding campaigns to finance most of our projects so we can better estimate print runs and keep the economic risk manageable for our small company.

A fair compensation of our freelancers and appreciative interactions with them are very important to us. Without their competent work, we wouldn't be able to publish half as many half as great games! By paying as much as we can, we also make it possible for some marginalized people to even work in the TTRPG space in the first place. Specifically, we have paid all freelancers for PLOTBUNNY GAMES on all projects more than usual in the German TTRPG space. We also were able to add additional bonuses from almost all crowdfunding campaigns. We hope to continue this trend with your support!

To keep our games accessible to people with little money, we offer the opportunity to donate community copies in all of our crowdfunding campaigns. After publication, the digital versions of these games are available for people with little money (currently via Itch.io). This allows role-players with more money to support those with less money and make it easier for them to participate in the hobby. We are very grateful that you keep supporting us in this act of solidarity so generously!

Also related to fairness is our choice not to use images or texts created by so-called "generative AI" or those that have used such AI tools in a relevant way. The usual generative AI tools have all been trained on data without the knowledge or consent of their original authors or illustrators. Their further calibration is done by exploiting underpaid and partly underage people in the Global South. Their massive waste of electricity and water further makes them an ecological catastrophe. None of this matches our values and goals, which is why we never use generative AI tools and LLMs like Midjourney, ChatGPT, and such. We also have a clause for this in our freelance agreements and publication contracts, and we prohibit the use of our publications and their parts for the text and data mining according to § 44 UrhG (German copyright law). In short: Plotbunny Games are completely made by humans!

Who runs Plotbunny Games?

Andrea also uses her enthusiasm for role-playing games, for community building, and for varied tasks beyond the company in multiple German and English-language TTRPG communities. Among other things, she has co-organized two game jams in German, created the first German-language indie TTRPG co-op bundle on Itch.io, and enjoys being a guest in many podcasts and streams in both German and English. Details and links to all of these activities can be found on the page "Other TTRPG Projects".

For PLOTBUNNY GAMES she doesn't only do gane design, translations, editing, and graphic design, but also takes on all other jobs involved with running a publishing company: bookkeeping and finances, contract negotiations, planning and running crowdfunding campaigns, marketing and social media, website administration, community management, cooperations, customer service, distribution, and project management for all Plotbunny publications. There's always something to do, and it never gets boring – perfect for Andrea as a widely interested and multitalented person!

In addition to that, we work with various illustrators, editors, proofreaders, and translators as external freelancers on individual projects. You can find their names on every game info page and of course in the copyright section of our games!
