A surreal creature creation collage game for 1+ adventurous people.

The Game

Critter Combo - ein surreales Kreativ-Spiel. Eine niedliche Kreatur mit einem Lemurenkörper, dem Kopf eines Kugelfischs und den Hörnern und Ponyfransen eines Yaks und Monarchfalter-Flügeln sitzt auf dem Boden und ringt verlegen die Hände. Sie trägt ein blaues Halstuch. Neben ihr steht eine elegant-unheimliche Kreatur mit Ameisenbärkopf in einem rüschenbesetzten rosa Kleid aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Der Cul de Paris des Kleides ist ein Truthahnkörper und -schwanz. Die Arme der Kreatur sind sehr lang und bestehen aus Froschschenkeln. Sie trägt einen roten Hut mit einer federförmigen rot-blauen Dekoration aus einem Kampffisch. Im Hintergrund ist eine Ölmalerei-Landschaft mit Himmel in Rot- und Brauntönen zu sehen. Der rot-orange Titelschriftzug ist aus Buchstaben aus vielen verschiedenen Schriftarten zusammengesetzt.

Critter Combo is a surreal creature creation game for 1+ adventurous humans. You collage a creature, answer some prompts to make up a little story about it, and celebrate human creativity as you go along (your own included).

Critter Combo works both as a solo game or as a game for 2-3 players who all make their own critters or collaborate on a shared critter.

You choose how long to play – anything upwards from 30 minutes is possible. The game is suitable for both adults and kids (depending on their age, they may need help with cutting out and glueing together the creature parts).

The Rules

Critter Combo has barely any rules.

First, you gather some interesting images, then you cut out elements from them, and assemble them into a new creature (on paper or digitally).

Then you place the creature in an environment you chose.

Over the course of this, you answer questions about your creature and rejoice in human creativity.

The game also contains many variants, including ones for playing with multiple people.

Critter Combo - a surreal creation game. A cute creature with a lemur body, the head of a puffer fish, the horns and bangs of a yak, monarch butterfly wings, and an elephant trunk for a tail sits on the ground and sheepishly wrings its hands.
